Campground

Cher'ere Campground & RV Park sits on the Klamath River just off Redwood Highway 101, at the edge of Redwood National and State Parks in far northern California. The RV sites (2–48) run down the river side of the park; Rally Central is the covered pavilion behind site 43, near the ADA-accessible restrooms and showers.

  • Check-in: online at Camplife.com (through your confirmation), or with the Camp Host near the SE Klamath Beach Rd entrance.
  • Reservations are made individually with the campground — the rally committee is not block-booking sites.

Getting there

Wednesday hike

Yaz leads an easy 2.5-mile loop from the Prairie Creek Visitor Center. The flat trail winds past old-growth redwoods, ferns and moss along a creek — the highlight is the Big Tree, a ~1,500-year-old redwood — and Roosevelt elk are often in the meadow nearby.

  • No pets (National Park rule).
  • Group capped at 12; we'll split into two if more sign up.
  • Meet at Rally Central to carpool — about a 20-minute drive via the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway. Rigs can come along; the visitor-center lot is small but the parkway shoulders are wide.
  • Wear comfortable shoes; bring water, a hat and sunscreen.
